DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 4 (Four): (1) Eli Terry & Son, Plymouth, Conn. 30 hour, time and strike, weight wood movement half column & splat shelf clock, c1830; (2) Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn., 30 hour, time and strike, weight wood movement half column & splat shelf clock.c1830 (3) Williams Orten, Prestons & Co., Farmington, Conn., 8 day, time and strike, weight brass movement column and cornice shelf clock, c1840 (4) Jerome's & Darrow, Bristol, Conn., 8 day, time and strike, weight wood movement half column & splat shelf clock, c1830
CONDITION: (1) Mahogany veneered case in an old finish has some loss on the base, the door and damage at the right carved paw foot. Original painted dial some wear to the chapter ring. No hands. Mirror or tablet is missing. Original stenciling on the columns and splat. Dark label inside; (2) Mahogany veneered case in an old finish is in nice condition with some minor age cracking at the door bottom. Original dial has some minor age cracking in the paint. Original movement and hands. Period mirror. Original stenciling on the columns and splat. Dark label inside. (3) Mahogany veneered case has loss on the base, center strip on the door, the columns and the top edge. It originally had a wide cornice on the top, now missing. Original painted dial has loss in the center area. Original hour hand. Center glass is a replacement. Case has a nice round front plate and square back plate brass movement, similar to S. B. Terry 8 day movement, but made by Williams, Orten & Prestons. (4) Mahogany veneered case in an old finish has loss on the base, the door center strip, and the left side strip next to the door. Original painted dial in nice condition for its age. Nice stenciling on the columns. Replaced mirror and missing hands. Bell has been replaced. Clean label inside.
